【摘要】:Thispracticecoversexpandedweldedandsilverbrazedsocketjointsforuseonshipboardpipingsystems.ExpandedweldedandsilverbrazedsocketjointsaretobeusedtojointwopipesortubeshavingthesameNPS(see)withoutusingafittingorbuttweld.Brazedsockettypejointsarenotintendedforuseonsystemscontainingflammableorcombustiblefluidsinareaswherefirehazardsexistorwheretheservicetemperatureexceeds425F(205C).Brazedjointsdependingsolelyuponafilletweldratherthanprimarilyuponbrazingmaterialbetweenpipe/tubeandsocketarenotcoveredbythispractice.Note1Thedimensionlessdesignatornominalpipesize(NPS)hasbeensubstitutedinthispracticeforsuchtraditionaltermsas"nominaldiameter,""size,""nominalsize,"and"ironpipesize."Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
